I’m probably going to be moving to any of these 3 areas next year, when I start high school. I’m really not used to small towns, since I’ve lived so far in Miami all my life, with 3.5 million people. Anybody have anything to say about these places? Niwot seems really neat. Hopefully the people are not such jerks as here in Miami most of the time, or bad drivers.
I’m curious. I’ve never moved before, so it would be could to have a fresh start.
Anybody a student at Boulder/Niwot High or just a resident? I’m curious about what it’s like.

Boulder is filled with college students, and rich yuppies, and trust fund hippies, its a neat town, but I would not want to live there.
I have only been to Niwot for a high school football game years ago, gives off the small town feel, but not far from other towns, so its not like you are stuck in the middle of nowhere, I am 99% sure that the people are better drives and less jerk-like than those in Miami!
It’s a nice area, I think you’ll like it. I moved here about two years ago after living in NYC and Long Island my whole life. I lived in Boulder until about 3 months ago when I bought a house in Longmont. I’m also very close to Niwot (that’s the school my kids are zoned for but they’re not old enough yet) I find the people here to be much nicer and friendlier than what I’ve been used to. There’s also plenty to do, and places are not as crowded as in the city so you can actually DO stuff without fighting a million people, searching forever for a parking spot, etc.
I like this area because it has some rural aspects (you get to see horses and cows out in the fields, lots of kids are in 4-H, etc) but is still developed enough to not be a ‘boring’ podunk kind of place. Being close to Boulder is nice, but I find that there’s enough stuff even more local that I don’t even go there very much. Denver is only an hour away by car so going there for concerts and stuff is pretty easy. There are lots of ski areas within a couple of hours drive, so if you like to ski or snowboard (or want to learn) it’s really accessible here.
I don’t know too much about the high schools, because like I said my kids are small but I’ve driven by Niwot high a bunch of times and it looks really nice. I’ve heard it’s a good school. There are other high schools in the area, so depending where you move to you might be zoned for a different one.
